Kraftmikið sólóverk - allt fengið að láni
Þegar dansarinn Katrín Gunnarsdóttir fór að semja sín fyrstu dansa sem unglingur þá sótti hún reglulega innblástur í aðra höfunda og verk, endurnýtti dansefnið og skeytti því svo snyrtilega saman við eigin danssmíðar. Útgangspunktur dansverksins Saving History er að kortleggja þennan stuld með því að leita uppi gamlar dansrútínur sem innihéldu spor þekktra höfunda, aðskilja frá eigin sköpun og draga aftur fram í dagsljósið. Verkið samanstendur af röð fjölmargra vísana í það dansefni sem Katrín fékk lánað á 15 ára tímabili þegar hún var að læra dans og taka sín fyrstu skref sem atvinnuhöfundur.
Verkið skoðar samband dansarans við sína danssögu og vinnu dansarans. Það er einnig viðurkenning á því að fá lánað frá öðrum sé órjúfanlegur hluti hverskyns sköpunarferlis. Nú snýr Katrín aftur að Saving History, sem var frumsýnt árið 2014, en verkið fær á sig aðra merkingu í ljósi reynslu, tíma og breytts samhengis.

A powerful solo performance - borrowing from the best
When dancer Katrín Gunnarsdóttir started to make dances as a teenager, her practice always included a certain amount of so-called borrowing: taking inspiration from other choreographers and works, remixing and incorporating the material discreetly into her own work. Saving History takes as its starting point the chronological charting of the 15 year engagement Katrín Gunnarsdóttir had with borrowing dance material from others in the beginning of her career.
Paying tribute to this well–honed methodology, Saving History is something of a recognition of borrowing as an inherent part of any creative and learning process. The work also deals with the dancer's relationship to her personal dance history and to the labour of the dancer.
Now, Katrín returns to Saving History, originally premiered in 2014, revisiting the work through the lens of time, experience, and a changed context.
