Join us for a 3-day workshop to provide input on NEW educational resources on geoheritage- an interdisciplinary field that recognizes the geologic, educational, cultural, economic, and aesthetic value of sites around the world. This workshop will focus on the 55 geoheritage sites recently identified in the U.S. by the Geoheritage Sites of the Nation Project (USGS).
Hear from geoheritage experts and engage in activities that you can use with your students to teach about the scientific and historical significance of site around the U.S. We will also tour Mather Gorge within Great Falls Park to learn why it has been identified as a geoheritage site.
We cover 3 nights at a hotel in Reston, daily lunch, reimbursement for mileage, and a $200 stipend. An additional stipend can be earned by teachers who use geoheritage resources with their students and provide feedback on their implementation (anticipated follow-up date: November 2025).
