Machon Ayalon was the code name for a secret underground bullet factory which was established outside the city of Rehovot by the Hagana in the years prior to independence in defiance of British policy. It is a remarkable story of determination, resilience and ingenuity which continue to characterize the State of Israel to this day. The factory, which was clandestinely built in 1945, secretly manufactured ammunition under the noses of the British until 1948. Today it is a fascinating museum and national historic site.
We will congregate in the picnic grove adjacent to the parking area at 11:30 for picnic lunch and introduction to our tour.
