The First State Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association is proud to host the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute’s Sharing the Road with Trucks Program on Saturday, November 15th at the Rehoboth Ale House on the Mile.
This program is an evidence based community outreach program that conducts hands-on safety demonstrations that teach key strategies for safely interacting with tractor trailers and other large trucks when encountering them on our roadways. The program not only teaches the key strategies, but provides participants with a firsthand opportunity to see a tractor trailer up close and experience the large blind spots from the truck driver’s seat.
Time is yet to be determined, but is anticipated to begin late afternoon to coincide with the Virginia Tech football game beginning at 7:30 that evening. The Ale House is owned by Adam Newman, a Virginia Tech graduate, and has become a gathering place for Hokies who live in the area, or are simply passing through.
Team Leader Scott Tidwell will be on hand to share insights about the program—and yes, the iconic in truck will be parked outside for everyone to explore!
We would like to invite you to stick around afterward to cheer on the Hokies as we watch Virginia Tech take on Florida State It’s the perfect blend of innovation, community, and Hokie spirit.
