Working the Line is a hands-on session exploring a fundamental part of a poem – the line and the stanzas it creates. Participants will explore and discuss the possibilities for lines, caesuras, how enjambment and end-stops impact a line and a poem.

Would prefer participant discussion from everyone throughout the workshop when prompted (either through the chat box or by speaking out loud at appropriate times)
Participants are expected to share writing created during the workshop with the group if applicable.
Participants are expected to participate in activities/prompts/exercises throughout the workshop. (In session only, no homework required.)
During the workshop, participants may be split into smaller groups using Breakout Rooms
Workshop registration refund policy:
Please be certain you will be able to attend before you register. Registered participants must promptly email the SWG staff person responsible for the event (Cat Abenstein, Program Manager,
c3dnZXZlbnRzIHwgc2t3cml0ZXIgISBjb20=) to cancel their registration. Otherwise, no refunds will be issued.
A full refund is available if you cancel your registration one week prior to the start of the workshop (by 11:59 p.m. on February 24, 2026)
A 50% refund is available if you cancel your registration less than one week and more than 48 hours before the workshop. (For cancellations between February 25 and March 2 at 11:59 p.m. SK time)
There is no refund for registrations cancelled within 48 hours of the workshop or for no-shows. (Beginning at 12:00 a.m. on March 3)

Workshop Facilitator
Bernadette Wagner is a published poet, essayist, and letter-writer who enjoys gardens, preserving, and cooking. She finds courage and wisdom in the voices of the past and present and works to support and encourage the voices of the present and the future in their written endeavours. Recognized for her work as a writer and community organizer, she is grateful to be able to share what she’s learned with others. She makes her home in Oskana kâ-asastêki (Regina, SK) and has lived her life on the unceded lands of Treaty 4 Territory.
