Join us for Tide & Seek — a social-first beach cleanup designed to connect like-minded ocean lovers, eco-advocates, and all-around good humans.
We’re picking up more than just trash—we’re building community. It can be hard to make friends in LA so we wanted to create an event that facilitates organic socializing while also giving back. Come solo or bring a friend and meet new people who care about the planet and know how to have a good time. During the cleanup, we’ll have light games and conversation starters to spark real connections while we make the beach sparkle.
After the cleanup, stick around for food, drinks, music, and beachside hangs (volleyball may be involved 👀).
Whether you're in it for the environment, the community, or just some sunshine and vibes—you'll leave with a full heart (and maybe a few new group chats).
Info: Come check-in at our registration table to get your name tag and assigned ocean animal.
Info: Using the ocean animal you were assigned, find your partner! Share why you are here and your favorite thing and least favorite thing about meeting new people in LA! Then with your partner find another pair you want to partner with to form a team. The goal is to form a team of 4.
Info: The goal is to clean up as much trash as possible within an hour and 30 minutes. We will hand out cleaning supplies. Additionally teams are tasked with finding the following items: 1. The Heartbreaker:
An item that shouldn’t be in the ocean, but always is. (Bottle caps, balloon plastic items, etc.)
What do you wish more people understood about ocean pollution?
2. The Weirdo:
Most random item found. (Sunglasses, fake nails, a shoe)
Prompt: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever lost at the beach?
3. The Plastic Voyager:
An item that’s been really weathered by the ocean.
Prompt: What’s one habit you’ve changed to use less plastic?
4. The Tiny Terror:
Microtrash like cigarette butts, microplastics, etc.
Prompt: What’s something small that’s had a big impact in your life?
5. The Unexpected Beauty:
A natural object that reminds you why we’re doing this (a shell, feather, seaweed)
Prompt: What does the ocean represent to you right now?
Info: We will all come together and have teams present their items within in category. We will also weigh each teams trash and the team that found the coolest items as well as the team with the most trash win prizes (Cool Sardine School merch!!).
Info: Now its time to socialize! Enjoy the food and drinks provided, chat with your team or meet new people, play some beach volleyball, listen to music.
