Join cookie artist Trina Smurl Williams of Heartland Cookies & Treats for a hands-on Sugar Skull Cookie Decorating Workshop!
Learn expert decorating techniques — from wet-on-wet to 3D embellishments — while expressing your creativity in this fun, Día de los Muertos–inspired experience. You’ll decorate a beautiful trio of sugar skull cookies and take home your creations, along with your own icing pen to reuse later.
This workshop is perfect for anyone wanting to create, relax, and celebrate life’s colorful side. 🌸💀
🧁 All supplies included:
- 3 sugar cookies
- Colored icing
- Reusable cookie pen
👩🎨 Best suited for teens & adults.
Children ages 12+ who can focus quietly and take direction are also welcome. (We have a full afternoon of free kid friendly crafts scheduled after this, we hope you'll enjoy!)

MORNING: 11am - 12ish
🎨 🌺💀 Sugar Skull Cookie Decorating Class with Heartland Cookies & Treats
AFTERNOON: 12:30 - 3pm (maybe later!)
🥖 Fresh baked Pan de Muertos from Fanny Sweet n’ Joy Bakery, who will also help us create a giant community altar, called an Ofrenda, outside.
☕ Sip Mexican-style Hot Cocoa while you make colorful items (ofrendas / offerings) to place on La Ofrenda (the altar) — tissue paper flowers, papel picados, butterflies, and more.
🐈⬛ Free kids’ craft with Paula & Victoria Calderón — draw your pets as Alebrijes, their imagined spirit forms!
🎨 Decorate frames and draw pictures or bring prints of your loved ones to place on the altar
📖 Meet bilingual children’s book author & educator Maria Fernanda Calderón, who’ll be sharing stories and cultural insights.
🎶 We’re hoping to add Face Painting & Live Music, maybe more — stay tuned for updates!
