To honor Harrison’s life and celebrate his birthday, we are hosting our second annual Harrison Thompson Memorial Baseball Tournament on June 13-14, 2025 at the Tim McGraw Sports Complex in Rayville, Louisiana.
Harrison loved playing baseball, and he shared this love of the game with his namesake, Abram Usey. Abram was born premature and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Although Abram faced physical challenges, he was still able to enjoy the sport of baseball through the organized adaptive and inclusion leagues in the Baton Rouge area.
We would also like to invite the children of our community with ANY type of disability or special need between the ages of 3-18 to participate on The “A” Team in a Home Run Derby June 13th @ 5pm!!!
We will have volunteers to assist participants with batting, running, and rolling around the bases. A “play by play” announcer will be on the sidelines so players hear their name being called as they cross home plate! There will be Angels in the outfield and fans in the stands to cheer the players on! Everyone on The “A” Team will get a HOME RUN!
Funds raised from this event will allow children with different abilities to experience baseball! Our goal is to one day create a specialized baseball field at the Time McGraw Sports Complex for children who don’t have the opportunity to play baseball with a traditional competative league.
Harrison loved baseball and would want everyone to have the opportunity to play!!! Harrison would have wanted every child to have the opportunity to play baseball. The proceeds from this event will be allocated to the funding of an accessible ball field at the Tim McGraw Sports Complex so that children with any ability can play the game!
