Captured in Crisis

In 1937, one of the worst natural disasters in Ohio Valley history submerged Ravenswood. Amid the rising waters, photographer Clara Weisheit ventured out by boat, capturing powerful images of the devastation. Her photographs remain one of the most important visual records of the flood, offering a glimpse into both the destruction and the community’s resilience.
