Healing begins with me.
In Sunday's Gospel this week, we heard: “Jesus went around all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people.” Jesus has come to save us, to rescue us, and to lead us to the fullness of life.
We need healing! Jesus deeply desires to heal us! We need Jesus to rescue us from the kingdom of darkness, to free us from our slavery to sin, and to heal us from the wounds that keep us from living the fullness of life that he promises.
Our rescue, our freedom, and our healing begins with our recognition that we need to be rescued; that we need to be freed; that we need to be healed. A good, honest, and sincere reflection upon our lives, being attentive to our negative and harmful attitudes, our false beliefs, and our creative but unfruitful ways of coping with life, will help us see our need for rescue, freedom, and healing. Jesus is the one who is always and everywhere working for our rescue, freedom, and healing. We are called to receive the graces Jesus provides.
