About the event

Glenn Nesbitt: "The significance of the Nicene Creed"
We have just marked the 1700th anniversary of the
Council of Nicaea (325AD), with the Nicene Creed as its most famous outflow – still in use in so many churches today. This talk offers a bit of history on the creed, what it means (particularly the significant choice of wording describing Christ) and why it matters (what it tells us about Christianity).

Glenn Nesbitt is on visit from the U.K., where he is a Minister at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford. For 9 years he taught at the Johannesburg Bible College in South Africa. Glenn holds a BA in History (Oxford) and a Masters in Theology (Oak Hill). He is married to Lizzy and they have 2 children.

This talk is part 1 of a 2-part mini-series. The following week at TGIF in Pretoria, Karnu van Heerden will look more closely at the Council of Nicaea’s main dispute, Athanasius vs Arius, and how Athanasius countered the Arian heresy.
