A ll fruiting plants like apples, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, and grapes need to be pruned yearly. During what we call the "pruning season" is when all of the pruning cuts on these plants should be made to maintain their shape, appearance, and fruiting capabilities.
I f you have fruiting plants and want to learn how to prune them OR want to purchase plants at some point and need to learn these practices this intensive day of pruning. We will learn pruning concepts and see live demonstrations from Cooperative Extension Agents and Specialists putting what we learn to work.
The morning session will cover tree fruits and will be led by Dr. Micheal Parker, NC State Extension Specialist for Apples and Peaches. This session is from 9:00-12:00.
L unch will be served between 12:00 - 1:00.
The afternoon session will cover small fruits and will be led by Cody Craddock, NC Cooperative Extension Agricultural Agent, Randolph County Center. This session is from 1:00 - 4:30.
N OTE: Your ticket allows you to attend BOTH sessions and lunch but if you would like to learn one or the other you may attend the session of your choice. Please pay attention to the session start times and lunch time to ensure you arrive on time.
Info: Please arrive at or before 8:30am. At 8:30am we will hear from Beverly Mooney with information about the orchard, introductions, and other general information.
