Celaris
Progressive metal outfit from Raleigh formed in 2018 by guitarist Rachel Pappalardo and drummer Joshua Rush. Known for their debut album In Hiding (October 16, 2020), they deliver a tech/prog metal fusion with djent-leaning riffs, dynamic time changes, and soaring vocals—drawing clear influence from Veil of Maya, Periphery, Erra, The Contortionist, and TesseracT
Inurvah (VA)
Hailing from Richmond, VA, Inurvah blends metalcore, deathcore, prog, and djent elements. Their online bios and posts highlight heavy groove-laden riffs, occasional polyrhythms, and brutal breakdowns. They have an active live presence, regularly playing shows at venues like Garden Grove RVA and posting both clips and music video links via Instagram
Lux Extermina (VA)
Their recent singles showcase ferocious riff attacks, high-velocity drumming, and bleak lyrical themes, making them a potent underground contender.
Fatehaven (VA)
Richmond-based metal quintet merging melodic hard rock with powerful metal foundations. Active since around 2019, they’ve built local traction through consistent shows, engaging social media, and a sound that balances soaring melodies with gritty heaviness.
Abstract Horror
Emerging from Eastern North Carolina as a death metal trio, they specialize in heavy, stripped-down brutality. Their live shows are known for relentless blastbeats, raw dissonant riffing, and uncompromising sonic intensity that resonates with extreme metal fans.
