In this five-hour intensive workshop we will be assembling a garment from scratch! The Strata Top by Sew Liberated is a perfect first garment project -- as well as a versatile layering piece you'll find yourself wearing in all seasons.
Class time will be spent laying out and cutting our fabric and pattern pieces, and assembling our garment start to finish. We will cover using a garment pattern, seams and seam finishes, hemming, and bias binding. Along the way we'll discuss best practices, tips and tricks -- and have our own little fashion show to close the day!
Supplies Needed: Strata Top sewing pattern by Sew Liberated, recommended amount of a light to mid weight woven fabric for your chosen pattern size. ***PLEASE NOTE: Your fabric must be washed, dried and ironed prior to class. Your pattern should be either ironed (if tissue) or pieced together (if a pdf) and ready to cut.*** Matching thread, Optional: bias tape for binding neckline. (Should you purchase any of the above in store, be sure to ask for your 10% student discount!)
Supplies Provided: Sewing machine, ironing and cutting boards, and a sewing toolkit for use in class.
Be sure to bring a beverage and a snack (no nuts please) to tide you over. A water bottle filling station is available on site.
This class is open to students age 12+.
Class Requirements
Prerequisite: Sewing Level 1 and at least one session of Sewing Level 2 or 3 at Craft Habit, or equivalent experience. Students must be comfortable setting up & threading a sewing machine, sewing with consistent seam allowances, and have basic understanding of using a pattern.
Class Cancellation Policy
Class registrations are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, you may find another person to take your place in class. Please let us know their name in advance of class starting.
Classes cancelled by Craft Habit WILL be refunded in full.
