Come to the N.C. Capitol Monday December 1st from 6-8pm to watch a screening of Frederick D. Murphy's Echoes of Forks of Cypress followed by a conversation with Frederick Murphy of History Before Us.
Echoes of Forks of Cypress explores the lives of the enslaved and enslavers at the Forks of Cypress plantation in Florence, AL. The documentary highlights their struggles, resilience, and the plantation’s historical significance. It then shifts to the present, where descendants from both sides come together to confront and heal from their shared past. Sarah Moore Jackson, owner of the Forks of Cypress, along with her husband James Jackson is a descendant of the Orton and Stagville Plantations, both located in the state of North Carolina.
