SIBLINGS ARE INVITED TO JOIN!
Dance Collaborative is excited to be partnering with the NC Down Syndrome Alliance to provide Creative Movement dance classes for individuals, ages 5-21, this spring! Our purpose is to excite and challenge participants by introducing a variety of dance genres and inspiring creative movement. We lead them to effectively dance with others while building independence, confidence, and friendships!
Alexa Soosaar, NCT Director of Programming and Dance Instructor for Dance Collaborative is so excited to share her love of dance with the NCDSA families! She started her dancing career at the age of two in her hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. Before joining the Dance Collaborative team, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education Adaptive Curriculum and went on to teach 3rd-5th graders with moderate to severe disabilities for 3 years. She recently earned a Master’s Certificate in Nonprofit Management at North Carolina State University. Her two greatest passions in life are advocating and working with individuals with disabilities and dancing!
Dance Collaborative (DC) is a nonprofit organization focused on making dance education accessible to all, regardless of location, ability, or resources. With no permanent facilities, DC brings dance education directly to the individuals of the community by partnering with outside organizations and businesses. DC emphasizes accessibility in its dance classes, both by adapting classes to the needs of individuals and providing individual scholarships and subsidized programming to reach underserved families and under-resourced areas of the community.
As a nonprofit, Dance Collaborative is fully committed to seeing all people interact, understand, and embody the life changing power of dance.
