Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. It is part bike ride, part scavenger hunt. All you need is a bicycle, a lock, and a bag. The event is free, but you will need money to purchase food. All donations will support Raleigh Rescue Mission.
You will pedal the streets and trails of Raleigh in search of nonperishable food, priority groceries, and essential toiletries. This year’s Cranksgiving will feature two challenges: Heaviest Load and Highest Score.
The Heaviest Load category is simple. Whoever carries the single heaviest haul wins a small prize. We will weigh both individual and team totals.
The Highest Score category is based on a point system created for this year. Different items and store locations will be worth different points. Priority items earn more, and stores located farther from the start are worth extra.
Once riders return with their goods, everything will be donated to those in need through Raleigh Rescue Mission.
Cranksgiving is a national event that takes place in more than 100 cities across the United States and Canada. To learn more or find other locations, visit www.cranksgiving.org.
