Join us at noon on January 12, 2026 at the Terry Sanford Federal Building, 310 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh.
We demand: Close Guantanamo!
* Free or transfer the 15 Bush-era "war on terror" prisoners
* Stop sending immigrants to Guantanamo
* End ICE / Border Patrol raids
* Welcome immigrants; free immigrant detainees
* Accountability for North Carolina's role in renditions to torture
This January marks the 24th anniversary of the Guantanamo Bay prison, international symbol of torture and lawlessness. The US still holds 15 Bush-era prisoners there, including "forever prisoners" who are to be held indefinitely without charges or trial. Meanwhile, the Trump Administration has sent at least 500 immigrant detainees there, and Trump says he wants to imprison 30,000 immigrants at Guantanamo.
November 2025 also marks the 20th anniversary of North Carolinians' struggle to expose and end the CIA-sponsored kidnappings for torture in which our state's airports have played a vital role. The CIA-affiliated charter company Triangle Aviation Solutions (formerly Aero Contractors) is still one of the largest tenants at the Johnston Regional Airport, and county and state governments have refused to examine the company's CIA-directed human rights abuses.
