Explore the idea that a tool can be a piece of functional artwork. Learn to make a variety of brushes and how to harvest and source materials. You’ll create brush heads from hair, fur, and natural fiber. For brush handles you’ll use bamboo and wood.. This workshop includes discussions, slide presentations, and collaborations. The brushes can be used in various media with the possibility of mark making unique to each brush. You can use them in alternative process photography, ceramic mark making, lithography, watercolor, and much more. A materials fee of $55 per student is payable to the instructor at the start of the workshop to cover the natural hair and locally sourced materials for making the brushes. 2 sessions.
