Community Draw - Drawing the Infinite: From Small Scale to the Vast with Emma Theyers

A drawing workshop exploring the movement between the minute and the expansive. The class will begin with abstract and expressive mark-making using a range of materials, then move toward close observation and the addition of detailed drawings of small natural and found objects. Through a mix of imaginative exploration, layered compositions, and attention to scale, participants will discover how drawing can shift between micro and macro worlds.

About your Facilitator:
Emma Theyers currently lives and works in Central Otago, New Zealand. Since completing her bachelor's degree at the Queensland College of Art (Brisbane, AU), Emma has exhibited throughout Australia and, more recently, New Zealand. Her works have been shortlisted in several prestigious art awards, including the JADA Drawing Prize (AU), Hadley’s Landscape Art Prize (AU), Dobell Drawing Prize (AU), Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize (AU) and The Parkin Drawing Prize (NZ).
