Adventure Hub - a place where we come to hear epic inspirational stories and meet new adventure friends. For our next instalment we hear about people doing some awesome things under their own power – world record setting kitesurfer Louis Tapper and Green Steam Producer Chris Chase!
Louis Tapper: With just one kite, one board, and a 35 L backpack Louis set out on a solo world record kitesurf attempt along Brazil’s Atlantic coastline, from Salvador to São Luís to cover 2000km! Along the way, he battled gear failures (including broken GPS units and kite lines), allergic reactions that blinded him temporarily, and near-shark encounters to name a couple of highlights. Come and learn how much can be done with a little bit of gear and a whole lot of gumption!
Chris Chase: In his award-winning short documentary The Greensteam, Chris shines a light on a bold zero-carbon endurance event ‘Green Steam’ where cyclists strap skis to their bikes and ride from Wānaka to Treble Cone, before skiing to the summit, turning around and repeating the journey home. After showing the film, Chris will also get us excited for the upcoming Green Steam events taking place in Wanaka and also this year from Queenstown up to Coronet! Expect a session of human-powered thrills, human powered laughs, all for a great cause.
