In this workshop led by Sherese Francis, participants will learn about the history of Jamaican poetry and Jamaican-based poetry form, Dub poetry. The elements of the workshop will include 1) writing prompts while listening to various dub poets, 2) exploring different poetic forms that are similar to the practices found within Dub music, such as After poems, found/erasure poems and collective poems, and 3) experimenting with a new poetic form called the Sound System poem made by Sherese.
Cost $5 per person covers supplies and light refreshments
Suitable for ages 13 and up.
