Ben McClintock & The Shape of Space

Guitarist/composer Ben McClintock and his trio, with Teresa Sanchez on bass, Ben Friedkin on drums, and Jun Iida on trumpet, play from a variety of songs, rhythms and sonic moods. Inspired by jazz and improvised music as well as sample based loops and pedal effect explorations, the band experiments with form and texture with a keen sense of interplay and tradition. They are currently playing music from the album The Shape of Space, McClintock’s debut album under his name, which was self-recorded in a Brooklyn apartment, mixed at Bunker Studios and released in Spring 2024. It’s composed of eight songs that play out like a live movie soundtrack or a time-lapse cruise across the desert. The music has been described as soulful, moody, cinematic and groove based, but come take a listen for yourself.
