What we throw away, someone else might treasure. What we envy in others, they may never value in themselves. It often begins as quiet admiration but quickly turns into something heavier. At the same time, we discard parts of ourselves, convinced they hold no worth.
Envy, Upcycled sits in the space between what we celebrate and what we hide. Using found materials and mixed media, Canberra-based artist Eryn Marshall reimagines discarded objects and emotional residue into works that invite reflection on how we measure beauty and value—both in ourselves and in others. It asks what might happen if we reframe envy not as a flaw, but as a way back to self-worth, appreciation, and unexpected beauty.
A cause close to Eryn’s heart, Envy, Upcycled proudly partners with the Butterfly Foundation, with a portion of all ticket sales and proceeds supporting Australians experiencing eating disorders and body image concerns.
