Sydney Nannas & Friends will rally outside Origin's AGM from 9.30 on 15 October, with messages for shareholders about Origin’s coal seam gas expansion plan in central Queensland.
Please join us.
We are asking shareholders and customers to take Origin to task on their proposed “Gas Security Supply Project” which would export gas from Gladstone until 2061. What’s bothering us:
- 4,435 coal seam gas wells across 211,472 hectares
- Extraction of 29 billion litres of groundwater
- 1,300 hectares of koala habitat would be cleared
- 435 million tonnes of climate pollution.
Origin claims to be an ethical, climate-minded company. There is nothing ethical or climate-conscious about a new gas project that threatens a long list of endangered species, farmland, and the water our Queensland communities and environment depend on.
What about the future global market for gas – when will the music stop? Demand is falling, while other countries are ramping up production, all trying to cash in while they can.
Tell them it’s over: If you’re a shareholder or customer tell Origin we need clean renewable energy, not thousands of unnecessary new coal seam gas wells.
