Truth and Reconciliation Event

Happening next week! Join us in Room 30 on September 29th at 4:30 for a viewing of two episodes from the show Reservation Dogs followed by a talking circle with Elder Joseph Naytowhow in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Soup and bannock will be provided. We encourage attendees to wear an orange shirt in solidarity with Indigenous peoples who were taken and the intergenerational survivors who live with the impacts of the IRS daily.

Reservation Dogs is a series following the lives of four Indigenous teenagers (the Rez Dogs) in rural Oklahoma, in a small town in the Muscogee Nation, where they who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California. The Rez Dogs grapple with the death of their friend a year previous and they contemplate whether to make the trip to California themselves. They each need to address unresolved issues in their lives and community and make plans to leave.
