With powerful imagery and inspired choreography, Compagnie Hervé Koubi dancers defy gravity. In his work, choreographer and Artistic Director Hervé Koubi combines contemporary and urban dance movements, capoeira, and martial arts, drawing creative strength and inspiration from his Algerian roots and the Mediterranean culture.

On October 18, Compagnie Hervé Koubi bring the evening-length "Sol Invictus" to The Purchase PAC. Sol Invictus, the “invincible sun,” is an ode to the unifying power of dance. In turbulent times, it upholds love as the guarantor of peace — despite fracture, communion emerges as humanity’s saving grace.

The music score includes a composition by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson, with excerpts by Steve Reich and digital composer Maxime Bodson. “I want to talk about light, solidarity, and those bonds that unite us,” says Koubi. “Here, the sun and the dance will emerge victorious.”
