Pottery Workshop – Nerikomi Edit

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese hand-building technique where colored clays are layered stacked and sliced to reveal natural patterns. In this workshop participants will be introduced to two basic Nerikomi methods — marbling and layering. Each participant will create one unique patterned piece using two contrasting clay bodies (cream stoneware and red stoneware).
 
The aim is to help participants slow down connect with clay mindfully in a nature-rich setting. Every piece will be glazed and high-fired making it food-safe and functional.
 
– Inclusive of: All materials glazing and firing.
– The final glazed pieces will be delivered within 4–6 weeks as the process requires drying glazing and multiple firings.
– Note: Any damage to participants’ work during drying/firing is part of the natural ceramic process — while every care is taken occasional cracks/imperfections may occur.
