The Great Gatsby at 100 Years with Lance Rhoades

Although he wanted to write the great American novel, Fitzgerald died believing he had failed as a writer. It would take future generations to realize that The Great Gatsby was indeed a masterpiece, a classic portrait of The Roaring Twenties and The Jazz Age. Visiting film and literature scholar Lance Rhoades will share the story of the life of Fitzgerald and the legacy of The Great Gatsby.

Lance Rhoades is a scholar of Comparative Literature and Cinema Studies at the University of Washington and a recipient of UW’s Excellence in Teaching award. Rhoades has presented talks throughout the world on cultural history in film. Close to home, Lance serves as a Program Director for the Mercer Island Library and Arts Council.
