December's Avant Sundays at Blo Back will feature 3 Duos, 1 solo piece and a Sextet finale.
Charles du Preez will play an unusual solo/duo, "Dialogue de l'ombre double" (Dialogue of the double shadow) (1985) by Pierre Boulez.
Charles plays with his recorded clarinet part, one shadowing the other. And when two shadows from different light sources cross a third shadow shows up.
Then, Charles will be joined by his wife, Christine Lanza on flute for Giancito Scelsi's "Ko Lho" (1966). This is an exquisite duet with shimmering microtonal harmonies.
In the second set, Refic and Marsh offer up vocal excursions into known and unknown locations. Where will they take you?
Frenzy rules in the third set as Andrew Weathers and Mark Warm get frenetic with saxophone and drums.
The fourth set brings everyone together for their first meeting. What on earth will that sound like?
Tasty snacks are always a part of the tasty sounds in Avant Sundays at Blo Back Gallery
