We’re excited to have organised our next bikepacking weekender in Evandale!
Location: Evandale, Tasmania
How you partake in the weekend is completely up to you! We have specifically designed this trip so you can have a big weekend on the bike, or just enjoy the quaint country town that is Evandale.
You can either camp or purchase accommodation (there are multiple airbnb’s in town).
Time: Depends on whether you’re there for a chill weekend or an epic one!
Accommodation: You can choose to camp, book your own accommodation for yourself (or with a mate) OR join us at Leighton House for the ultimate weekend experience (beautiful shared accommodation with sauna and hot tub!)
Routes
Day 0
For those that want to do the epic route on Saturday, we suggest coming up the night before so we can get an early start. This is not compulsory, however there will be a few of us already up there… and maybe we might go for a little shakeout ride excited for the weekend ahead.
Day 1
Today can either be a super epic, or a super chill day.
Epic Option: For those keen for an epic adventure, we’re going to be heading up Mount Barrow (Ben Lomond’s better looking cousin) and then follow a few backroads back into Evandale. We’re going to get a relatively early start and depart Evandale at 7am as this route can catch up to you pretty quickly. We recommend a gravel bike for this option.

Chill Option: For those that are just keen on a weekend away to enjoy the quiet backroads, this option is for you. A later start time 9am, to give riders time to drive to the start location if travelling on the day. You’ll head into Launceston for a compulsory stop at Brad + Butter and then back via the beautiful backroads of White Hills. Any bike!

The pub meal and hanging out at the end of the day will be just as important as the ride itself!
Day 2
We’re going to stick with the theme of either having a chill weekend or an epic one.
Epic Option: For those keen for an epic adventure, we’re going to be heading up the infamous Ben Lomond (and Jacobs Ladder). This climb needs no introduction. It’s epic and well worth the effort to get to the top. Again, we’re going to get a relatively early start and depart Evandale at 7am so that people can head off relatively early to get back home.

Chill Option: The crew heading out on an easier cruise will head off a bit later. The goal will be to intersect with the epic crew around 11:30am at Dedington rd and then cruise on back to Evandale as a group.
