Diego's from East LA. Born there, still lives there, will talk your ear off about how the Eastside gets ignored by every "best of LA" list despite having half the city's best venues. He's been making that argument for eighteen years professionally and longer than that personally. He covers nightlife for AllEvents, which in LA means: concerts at the Greek and the Bowl, comedy at the Store and UCB, parties in warehouse spaces that technically aren't zoned for parties, food festivals that shut down entire streets, open mics in Silver Lake where industry people pretend they're not scouting. All of it. Diego drove for a music blog in the 2000s—literally drove, this city requires it—and built a network that spans promoters, venue owners, booking agents, and the taco truck operators who know where everyone ends up at 2 AM. He's seen shows at venues that don't exist anymore and venues that just opened last month. He hates traffic (everyone does, but he really does), loves mezcal, and thinks the best nights out in LA require ignoring whatever's trending and trusting someone who actually knows the city.
