Live Music & Nightlife Writer, AllEvents Seattle

About the Author

Brian moved to Seattle in 2004, too late for grunge and just in time for whatever came after. He's been trying to explain what that is for twenty years. Seattle's music scene is weird. It's got the legacy thing—the venues where Nirvana played, the history everyone knows about. But it's also got a live scene that doesn't care about any of that: comedy clubs that multiplied in Capitol Hill, electronic music events that happen in places nobody writes about, food festivals when the weather allows, the underground shows in basements and warehouses that only locals know. Brian covers it all for AllEvents. He knows which venues have good sound, which ones have character but terrible sightlines, which outdoor festivals are worth risking the rain for. He's been to shows at the Crocodile, Neumos, and a hundred smaller rooms that didn't survive the pandemic. He writes about what's left and what's new. He lives in Ballard, takes the light rail when it makes sense, and writes guides that assume you want honest recommendations, not hype. Seattle nightlife exists. It just requires a little more effort to find than some cities.
