WQW Adventure Ride

The WQW ride will be a trek from the lower lot at Mount Wachusett to the Quabbin Reservoir and back, taking as many dirt roads and bike trails as I could find. About 50-55% will be unpaved, with a mix of rail trails and dirt roads. I'd recommend a dedicated gravel bike or comparable setup.

The "adventure ride" label is appropriate; expect possible detours and maybe some hike-a-bike sections, though I’ll do my best to keep the route gravel-bike appropriate. It's a group ride, not a race, so nobody will be left behind. However, you should be in strong century shape if you want to do the long or extra-long version - this won't be an easy day of cycling. The ride finishes with a climb to the Wachusett summit, using dirt roads for the first half of the ascent. After the hard-earned descent, we’ll gather in the parking lot to rehash the day before heading over to Wachusett Brewery for post-ride refreshments.

Shorter 72 and 46-mile options will also be available. The 46-mile ride (aka the "mini") will leave a bit later in the morning and go only as far as Barre and Rutland.
