Princeton Photo Workshop: NEW! Vintage-Style Portrait Photography

Part 1: In the StudioPrinceton, NJ

Explore the fun and challenges of recreating vintage Hollywood style portraiture, incorporating both classic and state-of-the-art techniques and tools. We'll learn how to use carefully controlled, dramatic lighting, the essential element of vintage-Hollywood style photography, to create a feeling of drama and mystery. You will experience posing the model and have the opportunity to experiment with close-up, vintage-style photography that emphasizes facial features, expressions, light and shadows. While props and wardrobe will be supplied, you are welcome to bring your own. By the end of your class, the lessons you'll take away will enhance all of your photography.

Part 2: The Finished ImageIn our live, fully interactive virtual classroom

Using the Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop toolbox with our studio portraits, we will re-create the beauty and elegance of the timeless images that the photographers of the Hollywood era developed in the darkroom. We’ll explore black and white vs color, high-contrast and retouching.
