Join us October 18th from 8am to 3pm for a full day of learning how to Keep it Simple!

& Eliminating Weeds in Flower Beds

— Jim & Mary Competti

Jim and Mary Competti are the creators behind a widely loved gardening and home-steading brand Old World Garden Farms – known for its authentic storytelling and real-world advice. Their practical tips, passion for simple living, and openness in sharing both successes and failures have attracted millions of followers across the globe. This genuine approach has led to the publication of several popular gardening books, as well as the launch of The Simple Garden podcast, a thriving YouTube channel, and six additional websites focused on home, garden, and cooking topics. Through their work, Jim and Mary have inspired countless others to grow their own food, embrace a hands-on lifestyle, and find joy in the everyday.

Beyond the Bag: Simple Soil Mixes for Thriving Plants

— Nina Geiling

Nina Geiling is Family & Consumer Science teacher at Pike Central High School and President of the Gibson County Master Gardeners. She will demonstrate ways in which a mix of soils can make a big difference as you work with plants in containers, whether these are raised gardens or pots on your patio.

Will the Climate Simply Change The Way We Garden?

— Jacob Dolinger

Jacob is a Climatologist at the Indiana State Climate Office. The Indiana State Climate Office, hosted at Purdue University, serves as the primary scientific Extension re-source for weather and applied climate science for Indiana through climate monitoring, resources, and out-reach. Their mission is to (1) Monitor and assess Indiana climate conditions and impacts, (2) Provide unbiased climate data, derived information, and data summaries, (3) Translate observational data into value-added infor-mation for decision makers, (4) Manage a research-grade weather observational network across Indiana for monitoring, research, and public safety, and (5) Conduct applied research on climate-related issues that impact Indiana.
