Composition in Visual Art

What makes an interesting composition in a piece of art? Why do some compositions engage our interest while others do not? Composition is the act of organizing the elements of an artwork into a harmoniously unified whole. In this class, we will explore how to use such tools as movement, balance, proportion, variety, and emphasis to create a dynamic composition. Whether your specialty is painting, printmaking, photography, collage or other medium, this class will give you the skills to effectively plan your artwork to keep the viewer interested and engaged.
