On Sept 23rd at 7PM, Author Ruth Chorney will be reading from her new 2025 Novel "No Straight Lines" in our gallery at the Prince Albert Public Library.;
No Straight Lines is a murder mystery set in 2025 in the fictional town of Kettlebank in northeastern Saskatchewan.
After a six year absence, Ingrid Johanson, a kitchen designer from Toronto, comes home for her father's funeral to discover the more things change, the more they stay the same. She reconnects with The Viking Five, her tribe growing up. Haunted by questions regarding her brother's death years earlier, and by reminders of why she left so suddenly, Ingrid and her best friends Mariah and Jared try to sort out the past. When Tristan Everleigh, the spoiled rich kid who hung out with the group, dies in a fall off the old Trestle Bridge, Detective Deitrich discovers that more than one person in town may have wanted Tristan dead.
Was Tristan's death a suicide? An accident? Or murder? How did the secrets of the past catch up with him?
And why are Ingrid and Mariah prime suspects?
Ruth Chorney lives on a farm north of Kelvington, Saskatchewan, with her husband of more than 40 years. A retired educator, she has never retired from farming. Chorney loves reading, writing, horseback riding, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She has published 5 children’s books (four in English, one in French), has a regular column in the Gardener magazine, and has had poetry published in The Fieldstone Review and Linedance. Her work also appears in publications by the Tisdale Writers Group.
Her novels include "No Straight Lines" (2025),"Haunted" (2023), "Conspiracy" (2020), and "Buried" (2018).
