SAVE THE DATE FOR AN IMPORTANT COMMUNITY EVENT
Sunday September the 14th 2025 at the Axedale fire station between 11:30am and 4pm.
The Axedale fire brigade will be holding an open day for a recruitment information day which will include a presentation and a Q&A session for any and all inquiries that you may have about joining our local brigade for both operational and non-operational roles. Our current serving members will be available to take care of any inquiries that you may have too.
Unfortunately the situation has gotten to a point regarding the current number of operational members that it is sometimes becoming difficult to put together a crew of fire fighters to turn out one truck, let alone two trucks, out to an incident. There have been a few times that only one volunteer member has turned up to the station when called and we have had to notify the 000 call centre that we cannot turn out to the emergency.
Unfortunately if the brigade does not grow with new members our Axedale station could be at risk of closing down permanently.
Axedale is only going to get bigger as a town with new housing developments going ahead just down the road, the demand on a very small brigade will only get greater.
Our worst fears are that a major event will occur in our area and that we will not have enough people to deal with it. If CFA crews have to come from another area, this will take a lot more time respond.
If you are in the area on any Sunday morning at around 9am, you will see some of us doing general weekly checks on our trucks at the Axedale CFA station. Drop in and see us to say hello and also to ask any questions that you may have in regards.
