About the event

Aperture & Instinct: Photographing Wildlife with intention
Join us at the Ohio Wildlife Center to get education and experience on photographing animals in flight, with Kathy Cubert!

About this Event

Step into the wild with purpose in this immersive wildlife photography experience designed to deepen your understanding of both your camera and your subject. In collaboration with the Ohio Wildlife Center, this class offers a rare opportunity to photograph three different species — a mammal, a small raptor, and a reptile — up close and with intention.

What You’ll Experience:

Meet the Mission of the OWC

Learn about the important work the Ohio Wildlife Center does to protect and rehabilitate native wildlife.

Hands-On Wildlife Portraits

Photograph three unique species in a controlled setting, allowing you to focus on technique and composition.

Instinct & Anticipation

Discover the habits and behaviors of the animals you’ll be photographing to help you anticipate decisive moments and capture more meaningful images.

Settings & Strategy

Explore how camera settings — especially aperture — affect depth of field, mood, and clarity. Discuss how small adjustments can dramatically change your final image.

Goal-Setting for Future Shoots

Learn how to set creative and technical goals for your wildlife photography outings to ensure you walk away with the shots you envisioned.

Mindful Photography

Immerse yourself in the moment and connect with species you rarely get to approach, all while practicing intentional photography.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to build confidence or a seasoned shooter wanting to refine your approach, this class will help you photograph wildlife with greater awareness, skill, and purpose.
