Expressive Florals in Oil, with Ursula Medley

This fun 2-day intensive workshop is suitable for the enthusiastic beginner painter as well as those with some previous painting experience. Participants will learn or recall basic oil painting techniques including value, composition, colour mixing and basic colour theory.

Day 1, Saturday Oct 11: Get started from the ground up, develop the image using a selection of tools to develop the grisaille underpainting glaze technique. Observe your personal response to the subject. Draw to simplify shapes. “How difficult it is to be simple,” Vincent Van Gogh

Day 2, Sunday Oct 12: Continue to develop your painting to completion by applying local colour with attention to brush work, use of colour, light and shadow, value and temperature. “Colour in a picture is like enthusiasm in life.” Vincent Van Gogh
