In this two hour workshop, you will learn exciting artistic and literary possibilities in comic book creation from two experts: Former Vertigo/DC Comics editor and writer Alisa Kwitney and DC/Marvel/Dark Horse artist Bill Koeb. In the first hour, Bill will take you through some examples of visually and conceptually brilliant comics and explain the techniques employed.
Then, in the second hour, Alisa and Bill will walk you through the process of comic book creation, including: Concept, pitch, scripting, the work of visuals vs. the work of text, thumbnails, panel design, hand vs. computer lettering and color as an aspect of storytelling.
You will come away inspired and armed with a practical sense of how to begin your own literary comic book or graphic novel. Participants will have the option of signing up for the second workshop, which will involve hands-on writing, drawing and painting exercises.
