Celebrate our nation’s 250th with a multimedia tribute to Colonial Hudson Valley life. Conducted by Music Director Kathleen Beckmann, the program features music, spoken word, and Colonial imagery that will be projected above the orchestra.
Programming will include "Colonial Dances" by Florence Price and Copland’s "Appalachian Spring." Featured performers include Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk and Native American Flutist Premik Tubbs.
The evening begins at 6:45 p.m. with the pre-concert presentation "A Revolutionary War Soldier Comes to Life," included with admission. Award-winning educator and historian Neil Murray of Pine Plains will appear in authentic colonial uniform, complete with period muskets and swords, sharing vivid anecdotes and artifacts that illuminate the lives of Revolutionary War soldiers and
the contributions of Dutchess County men and women to the cause of independence.
Featured guests include storyteller Jonathan Kruk, a nationally recognized teaching artist and author. Kruk has appeared on CBS Sunday Morning, The TODAY Show, and the BBC, and received an Exemplary Public History Award for his American Revolution presentations. Also joining NDSO, performing on a Native American Flute, is multi-instrumentalist Premik Russell Tubbs. Premik has performed and recorded with artists including Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Ravi Shankar, Sting, Lady Gaga, and Whitney Houston, bringing expressive depth and global artistry to every performance.
