Welcome to October's ROUST Records Presents . . . Avant Garde at Potsdam Public Library where, this month, the musical line up is perfect for conjuring a mood for the impending Halloween season,
On Saturday, Oct. 18, Potsdam's own ROUST Records recording artists, Fault Commission, returns to The Main Reading Room with New York City's Independent Flotation Device, to, once again, transform the library into a chamber of deep listening and exploration of the space and the self.

The trio of Claude Aldous (drums), William Eckert (voice/alto sax/electronics), and Dean C. Thornton (electric bass/pedals) continues to vividly evoke improvised soundscapes which can range from haunting to a fiercely visceral nature, representing their deep connection with each other.
And with great excitement, following a Friday Oct. 17 performance at the Albany Skyway, Albany, NY, this will be the second show Fault Commission will be playing with Independent Flotation Device, a trio of improvisers exploring the fertile terrain between acoustic intuition and electronic atmosphere.
Featuring Rick Parker on trombone and electronics, Matt Hollenberg on guitar, and Patrick Golden on drums, the music of Independent Flotation Device unfolds with minimalist precision, inviting listeners into a space where silence carries as much weight as sound. Negative space becomes its own voice, shaping the ensemble’s haunting and at times ethereal explorations.
Together, they create a living, breathing architecture of sound—fragile and forceful in equal measure.
