Shadows and Light. Folk storytelling, music, and a bit of magic for Halloween.
Tim Jennings, legendary Vermont folk storyteller, presents a program of hair-raising humor in time for Halloween. All the stories are traditional folk, many collected by Tim live in the field, and they are guaranteed to make you laugh, jump, and feel goosebumps. The stories are appropriate for adults, teens, and school-aged children. There will be some scares. In addition to his vigorously performed tales, Tim plays music, sings, and does a bit of magic.
Tim Jennings is counted among the best of today’s folk storytellers, casting a spell that is “hypnotic and utterly captivating.” (Seven Days.) As he spins a tale, characters and moods appear and morph and disappear with the sudden drama of New England weather. Music winds through the program, along with comedy, wonder, and suspense.
Tim has been storytelling professionally since 1980, and has released five well-reviewed and award-winning storytelling albums. He has performed all over North America, in such venues as Champlain Festival, Old Songs, Clearwater, and the National Storytelling Festival, as well as frequent appearances on Vermont Public Television, UVM, Bates College, and hundreds of schools, libraries, and community gatherings.
