✨ First Armenian Liturgy in Porto ✨
On September 21 at 11:00 AM, the Armenian Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in Porto for the very first time, on the occasion of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Խաչվերաց).
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, known in Armenian as Khachverats, is one of the major celebrations of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It recalls historic moments when the Holy Cross was “raised up” and venerated — from the Apostle James in Jerusalem, to Queen Helena’s discovery of the True Cross in the 4th century, and its return from captivity in the 7th century. Through these events, the Cross was transformed from an instrument of suffering into a symbol of salvation, hope, and victory.
This year’s celebration is even more special, as September 21 is also Armenia’s Independence Day, making it a day of both faith and national pride.
