At Rainshadow Recording, we believe some of the very best recordings are cut live, with the musicians playing together in the same room. Even better is having an audience to witness the recording. Frank Sinatra fed off the energy of the audience, so brought that concept into the studio, often inviting friends to come watch in the recording room itself. Playing to a live audience adds a bit of adrenaline-fed energy and makes the listener a part of the process, leading to recordings that truly connect with audiences.
On Thursday, January 8th at 7:30, the Portland-based trio, Dadweed, comes to record a live show at Rainshadow Recording. Dadweed reimagines pickin' and thumpin' by blending elements of jazz/folk/pop/R&B within a traditional bluegrass lens. Their sets explore a wide variety of styles and dynamics – with a focus on improvisation – showcasing both covers and originals.
Leaning heavily into three-part vocal harmonies and virtuosic instrumentation, Dadweed strives to redefine what's possible in bluegrass. The trio has toured throughout the west coast since 2024, appearing at festivals, venues, and private events. Dadweed released their first EP in Summer 2024 and have continued to release new singles throughout 2025.
