Master the Ancient Craft: Flint Knapping Workshop
Long before the snap of a modern lighter or the strike of a steel match, there was the rhythmic clink of stone against stone. This Family Day, we invite you to sit where generations have stood and master the survival skills of the past.
Join us for a rare, hands-on workshop led by Archaeologist Chris Dalton, President of the Grand River Chapter of the Ontario Archaeological Society. Under his expert eye, you will learn to "read" the stone, using controlled percussion and pressure flaking to transform raw chert and flint into functional beauty.
📜 Your Experience Includes:
The Technique: Discover the focus and precision required to shape stone through traditional methods.
The Creation: Every participant will craft their very own stone tool or projectile point—a piece of history to take home and keep!
The Connection: Learn directly from one of the region’s leading experts in Ontario’s archaeological heritage.
