INVITATION TO THE PORT MACQUARIE HISTORIC PILOT BOAT SHED, 79 CLARENCE STREET,PMQ 🎉🥳 29th Nov 2025, Saturday at 10.00am 🥳🥳
.
ALL ARE WELCOME to the Pilot Boat Shed celebrating "renovation launch" - the official opening at 10 am on Sat, 29/11/2025. 🗓️⏳
The Pilot Boatshed is one of the last reminders of the built maritime history in Port Macquarie, which was originally settled by sea. It was constructed in 1882 by the Harbours and Rivers Board on what is now the Town Green near the Royal Hotel and removed to the current location circa 1955, it was used by the then MARITIME SERVICES BOARD NSW until approximately 1986.
The prominence of the boatshed at the western end of the Town Green has meant that its renovation completes the attractiveness of the Town Green Precinct. The shed has a small display of maritime heritage, including an original internal slipway upon which the beautifully maintained Sea scouts sail training craft "The ANZAC" is exhibited.
THE ANZAC is the only permitted craft to be honoured outside the ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY with this title.
The Pilot Boatshed is one of three historic properties operated and maintained by volunteers of the MID NORTH COAST MARITIME MUSEUM INC.
The funding was provided by the Maritime Museum, Port Macquarie Hastings Council community grants fund and the National Maritime Museum.
The works were carried out by Craig Taylor painting, professionally managing the project and keeping their costs very reasonable considering the location and works carried out complying all required standards.
