After graduating high school, Maggie embarks on a gap year to Nepal, where she meets Tope, a resilient Nepalese orphan devoted to caring for other orphaned children. United in purpose, Maggie and Tope join forces to establish a children’s home, a women’s empowerment program, and a school for orphaned youth in Nepal. Over time, Maggie becomes the guardian of more than 50 Nepalese children and is recognized as CNN’s Hero of the Year.

Following the screening, we will be having a special panel discussion featuring three inspiring Long Island high school students. They will share insights into their volunteer work and long-term projects, offering a glimpse into the meaningful ways young people are making a difference in their communities.
Learn about the phenomenal volunteer and charitable work being accomplished by Bhoomi Jobanputra of LITeensRise, Kieran Casey of Port Jefferson who started the Project Engineering Outreach program, and Zehra Girdap who works within the United Nations CSW and national honor society programs.
